Inspired by someone I admire very much, and this week’s Project Create.
“It’s time for me to step to the front of the room,” she said, and she could not contain her smile. “I’ve always tried to fix things from behind the scenes, from the back of the room. But now it’s time.”
In that moment, she was beautiful. Her body was still the same three-hundred-plus pounds it had been for years. Her heart still carried all the scars of the teasing, the comments, the cold shoulders. The being ignored.
Her soul still yearned for a chance to speak, and from somewhere she’d found confidence to try, and her voice found itself.
“Now it’s time,” she said again, and she could not contain her smile, and that same smile infected the rest of us in the room, and we were all, in that moment, beautiful.
